options for all experience levels
The workshops are hosted in our beautiful mountain-top town of Boone, North Carolina in a luxury vacation home and taught by Kelly. Each is an opportunity for personal creative refreshment that will enrich your business and life with flowers. Arrange in the style you love. Learn systems for creating balanced, clean arrangements in the garden style. Receive thoughtful critiques about your work and thorough explanations about why it does or doesn't work based on timeless principles of design. We believe hands-on workshops are best when they are small, which is why our workshop size is limited to 12 per session and in some cases, even smaller. The 2018 season marks Kelly's fifth year of teaching professional florists.
Flower Workshop offerings
In this workshop, you will learn Kelly's step-by-step system for offering wedding florals — both business and design. It is an excellent intro or refresher for business owners. Proposals, pricing, consults, contracts — it's all covered in-depth. Mechanics and design for arbors, bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnieres, wrist corsages and crowns are covered as well as plenty of hands-on design time. The third day is an open studio with an abundance of hard-to-source mountain flowers where you can focus on your own design goals, create in the style you want, and receive one-on-one coaching rooted in the principles of design with Kelly throughout the day.
All experience levels, even beginners. Recommended for business owners. Workshop maximum is twelve. Includes toolkit, workbook, online components, shared lodging and meals.
Spring Session: May 20-24
advanced Bouquet design
In this workshop, you will gain hands-on experience in three core bouquet shapes in the garden style — sculptural, tailored and cascading. You will create six practice bouquets and an additional three to six portfolio bouquets, all with beautiful wraps. Bouquet pricing will be covered for each practice bouquet and samples will range from $90-$300. Kelly's technique for all shapes produces reliably solid bouquets (no wiggling!) that can be tossed across the table, and it does not require any type of synthetic armature (oasis, chickenwire, etc.). If you are frustrated about how long it takes you to create a bouquet or frustrated about how your bouquets appear in photos, this workshop is your answer.
All experience levels, even beginners. Recommended for business owners and/or teams. Workshop maximum is twelve. Includes toolkit, workbook, online components, shared lodging and meals.
